Resin bonded filter cartridge is a porous and insoluble ion exchange material that effectively reduces the hardness of water through ion exchange reactions. The interior of the filter is filled with millions of tiny plastic balls, which have negatively charged exchange sites on their surfaces initially occupied by sodium ions. When hard water containing calcium and magnesium ions flows through the filter element, the resin preferentially adsorbs the more charged calcium and magnesium ions, while releasing an equal amount of sodium ions, thereby achieving water softening. This process does not require the addition of chemical agents and belongs to the synergistic effect of physics and chemistry. Resin filter cartridges can also restore their activity through regeneration operations (such as soaking in saturated salt water), significantly extending their service life.

Production Process of Resin bonded filter cartridge
The manufacturing process of resin bonded filter cartridges varies depending on the type (such as particle filling type, sintering type), but the main steps include:
- Raw material preparation and mixing: Mix macroporous ion exchange resin or chelating resin (usually with a crosslinking degree exceeding 6% to ensure heat resistance) with binders (such as polyethylene, polypropylene), pore forming agents (such as ammonium bicarbonate), etc. in proportion.
- Molding and Sintering: Particle filling type: Fill the mixed resin particles directly into a filter tube with an end cap and supporting skeleton, and seal it into shape. Sintering type: The mixture is loaded into a mold and sintered in a constant temperature box at 200-240 ℃ for a certain period of time (such as 180 minutes) to fuse the material and form a block filter with uniform internal pores. The pore forming agent evaporates at high temperatures, forming a microporous structure.
- Post processing and assembly: After cooling and demolding, components such as PP cotton outer layer, activated carbon layer, heating layer or microwave oscillator may be added to make a composite filter element to improve the filtration effect. Finally, conduct quality inspection and packaging.
